In plain English
- We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA on the website and in the app.
- We list what we know still needs work, below.
- If something doesn’t work for you, email support@kitchenonhand.com with “Accessibility” in the subject — a person reads it.
This summary is here to help you read the document. The numbered sections below are the statement.
1. Our commitment
We want everyone who works in a kitchen — and everyone who visits our website — to be able to use Kitchen on Hand, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, on this website and in the app, and we check changes against it as we build them. We haven’t yet had an independent audit, and we know of the gaps listed below.
2. What we do
- On the website: every page has its own title, headings in order and a “Skip to content” link; text meets WCAG’s colour-contrast minimums; and the calculators work by keyboard and announce their results.
- In the app: every screen has its own title and a “Skip to main content” link past the menu; text boxes, selects, buttons and switches have edges at least 3:1 against their background.
- Form fields have labels, and a visible focus outline shows where you are.
- The app works with a keyboard; dialogs and the guided walkthroughs keep focus inside them, close with Escape and return focus to where you were (or to the page content if that control has gone).
- Saves that happen in the background — Item Needs taps, count entries, settings — are announced to screen readers, including when they’re waiting on the phone for signal, and errors are announced as they appear.
- Pages can be zoomed and pinch-zoomed, and the website reduces motion when your device asks it to.
- Images have text alternatives, and the product screenshots on this site are described in words.
- No audio or video plays by itself, and nothing on the website times out.
3. Known limitations
We know about these and are working on them:
- Some small grey text in the app is below the contrast minimum, mostly on the grey page background.
- Some status messages outside the screens named above may still not be announced to screen readers.
If any of these gets in your way, email us — we’ll help you get the task done another way while we fix it.
4. Tell us about a problem
If something on the website or in the app is hard or impossible to use, please email support@kitchenonhand.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. A person reads every email; we aim to reply within two business days and to fix the problem, or give you another way to do the task, as quickly as we can.
If you need information from the website in another format, ask at the same address and we’ll provide it.
